CLEVELAND – Air Force outscored Cleveland State, 12-9, in ASUN Conference action in their first-ever meeting in Cleveland. The Falcons improve to 7-4 on the season with a 4-1 record in league play.
Senior attack man Ethan Grandolfo put up his sixth hat trick of the season with his four-goal showing, making it the second consecutive game with four goals. Grandolfo has 23 goals this season. In similar fashion Brandon Dodd facilitated the scoring with a game-high four assists, tying his season high assist mark that was set last week at Utah. Dodd finished the game with two goals and has scored in every appearance this season.
Aidan Tolen helped lead the scoring effort as he rattled off three goals in the second quarter to propel AF to a three-goal lead despite being down 2-1 in the first quarter. It is the second hat trick this season for Tolen, he has 14 goals on the campaign. Other goal scorers were Luke Vrsansky, Jake Knapp, and Gavin Peene. Knapp's goal marked a career first while. Senior midfielder Maxwell Kane put up a career-best two goals and five ground balls in his first start.
The Falcon defense caused six of CSU's 12 turnovers, led by a pair of CTOs from Mitchell Gruenewald.
