Air Force Concludes NCAA Championships with Season-High Score, One All-American

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Air Force concluded the 2023 campaign at the NCAA Championships with a season-high 399.222 and one All-American. The Falcons placed fourth as a team in the first session, missing the mark to make it into the team finals but placing ahead of Navy (392.491) and Army (384.523).
Patrick Hoopes earned All-America honors on the pommel with a seventh-place finish (13.700) in the Finals Session, and impressive second-place finish in Session 1 (14.466). Hoopes is the first AF All-American on the pommel since Tim Wang in 2016.
Oliver Zavel and Erich Upton finished first and second in the Session 1 all-around, respectively. Upton had a stellar finish on the floor, tying for second with a 14.266.
Zavel was one place shy of earning All-America status, placing ninth in the all-around with an 80.564. He was AF's top performer on floor (13.966), high-bar (13.266) and parallel bars (14.00).
Garrett Braunton had an impressive showing on the still rings, finishing 15th in the field with a 13.966. Erich Upton was the Falcons' leader on the vault with a 14.133.
Stanford led from start to finish on the way to winning its fourth consecutive NCAA men's gymnastics championship.
