Blue Defeats Silver 5-1 In Men’s Tennis Scrimmage

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's tennis began preparations for the 2023-24 season with the annual Blue-Silver scrimmage as part of Parent's Weekend on Thursday afternoon at the Outdoor Tennis Courts. The Blue team rolled to a 5-1 win.

In doubles play, the duo of AJ Moore and Alec Fritzinger defeated Nick Vroman and Tyler Leaird 6-3 and Kyle Garner and Michael Choi defeated Arjun Kersten and Phillip Deaton 7-6 (5). Jack Brown defeated Kabir Rajpal 6-4 in a singles match that was played for a doubles point.

In singles, Vroman defeated Fritzinger 6-2, 7-5. Leaird defeated Rajpal 7-5, 6-3. Brown took down Moore 6-4, 1-6, 17-15. Kersten defeated Garner 6-4, 7-5 and Choi defeated Deaton 6-0, 6-2.

"The Blue-Silver match over Parents Weekend is an exciting way to kickoff the fall season," head coach Evan Urbina said. "It's not always easy to compete against your teammates, but we are focusing on having a match mentality when we step on the court. I liked seeing the competitiveness out there today. Jack and AJ had an intense 17-15 match tiebreaker! We will continue to use every opportunity to improve. I'm so proud of the leadership of our upperclassmen, and the energy in our practices has been great. We're looking forward to hosting the Bedford Cup and Regionals later in September, and we hope you can come out to support!"

Air Force opens the Fall season next weekend as the MSU Denver Invitational Sept. 9-10.
