
Falcons complete second round of Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Sophomore Alvaro Fonseca led the Air Force golf team in the second round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Monday, Sept. 11, at the Academy's Eisenhower Golf Course. The team competition was played on the Blue Course while the individual event was played on the Silver Course.
Fonseca shot a 74 in the second round and is tied for 22nd overall with a 145 (+1) for the tournament. Cameron Kahle and Aaron Kuznik each shot 76, Max Heupel shot 78 and Eli Huntington shot 79.
Valparaiso's Caleb VanArragon leads the field at 134 (-10) after carding back-to-back 67s. George Washington's Jakub Hrinda and CSU's Christoph Bleier are tied for second at 136. Hrinda shot the day's best round of 66.
New Mexico leads the field with a 568 (-8) team score. CSU is in second (571) and UC Davis is in third (572). CSU and UC Davis each shot the day's best team round of 279 (-9). Air Force is in 24th place at 603.
In the individual event on the Silver Course, Wofford's Davis Neal, Cal Poly's Louis Pilod and Northern Colorado's T.J. Shehee are tied for the lead at 137 (-7). UC Davis' Alejandro Nava shot the day's best round on the Silver at 64. Air Force sophomore Ted Davenport is in 11th place at 143 (-1) after 36 holes. Eric Liveringhouse and Alex Lynch are at 144, followed by Carson Baker and Brooks Morrell (148), Chris Park (149), Jake Myre and Grant Samuelson (154). Davenport shot the team's best round on the Silver at 70 (-2).
The final round of the 54th Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational is Tuesday, Sept. 12, with tee times on the Blue Course beginning at 7:30 am MT. A shotgun start for the individuals on the Silver Course will start at 8:30 am MT.
