Air Force Falls Behind at Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. – An early Air Force lead ended in a loss against Cal State Fullerton, 2-1, Thursday evening at Titan Field. The Falcons remain winless in seven matches while the Titans improved to 3-2-2 in the win.

Senior Remi Smith struck early, putting the Falcons up one-nil (7') via a touch from senior teammate Luke Hill. The goal and assist mark the first for both seniors this season. Smith has two career goals to his credit while Hill recorded his fifth career assist.

Despite the Falcons' momentum, the Titans battled to an equalizer moments later (11') as Erick Serrano and Mario Carlos facilitated Roberto Ordonez in his second goal of the season.

The teams entered the halftime locker room knotted at one— the Titans with 12 shots to AF's five.

In the 78^th minute, Fullerton goal-scorer Ordonez, and Jalen Belong, assisted Mason Lamb in his first goal of the season to take the lead.

The Falcons fought hard to rally to a tying goal but were not able to find the equalizer.

At the final horn, the Titans took 19 shots to Air Force's nine. Smith, Hill, and Carter Rizzo led the offensive effort with two shots apiece. Hill took both of his shots on goal.

Senior AF keeper Jakob Stone recorded a season-high five saves in his defensive effort. Goalie counterpart Tetsuya Kadona made four saves in his first win of the season.

Next up, Air Force travels to San Luis Obispo to take on Cal Poly (0-3-1) on Sunday, September 17. Action at Mustang Memorial Field, presented by French Hospital, is slated for a 3 p.m. PT kick off.
