SAN JOSE – Air Force was unable to track down San Jose State, dropping the Western Athletic Conference opener, 1-0, Thursday evening at Spartan Soccer Complex. The Falcons, winless on the season, drop to 0-9-1 while SJSU improved to 4-3-3.
The Spartans struck first in the 27th minute as Joel Garcia assisted Josh St. Lucas to the bottom left corner of the goal for the only strike of the match. The match turned into a chippy defensive battle as a total of eight yellow cards were issued—six to the Spartans.
Greg and Luke Hill led the offensive effort from the midfield, taking three and two shots, respectively, to lead the team in shooting. Greg Hill was the only Falcon credited with a shot on goal.
At the final horn, AF took nine shots while SJSU put up 10 with three on goal.
Next up, the Falcons travel to Seattle U to take on the WAC's top-team (6-2-2, 1-0 WAC). The Redhawks recently cracked into the top-25 following non-conference success—they are checked in at No. 23.
