COLORADO SPRINGS- Jumping right back into the pool after yesterday's meet at Northern Colorado, the Falcons shook off yesterday's dual loss to best Colorado School of Mines 168.00-92.00 at Cadet Natatorium.
"Our team rebounded from a tough loss last night and swam great today," said head swimming coach Colleen Murphy. "They learned a lot about themselves and pushing through adversity to swim fast."
The 200 Medley Relay team of Anna Ashley, Naomi Furman, Allana Clarke, and Abby Turner opened the morning meet with a top time of 1:45.20.
Clarke would later swim to a win in the 100 Butterfly after clocking in at 57.14, while Turner claimed victory in the 50 Freestyle (24.33) and 100 Freestyle (52.34).
C4C Jessica Smith notched her second win of the season in the 1000 Freestyle, pacing the field after posting an 11:01.00. Lauren Arnold finished just behind the freshman with her own time of 11:03.44.
Another freshman, Ryan Mills, tallied her first 200 Freestyle win, closing the race with a 1:55.21.
Kai-Min Tsuei (57.91), Ella Martin (58.43), and Anna Ashley (59.12) swept the 100 Backstroke, finishing in the top three positions.
In just her second appearance of the season, Corinne Yorkman picked up her first win of her senior year in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:09.02.
"It was really great to see Corinne Yorkman back in action and leading out team in the 200 Back after semester exchange in Colombia last semester," said Murphy.
Mandy Fleetwood was the victor in the 200 Breaststroke (2:22.50) while also managing a second place standing in the 100 Breaststroke (1:05.38).
In the 500 Freestyle, Katie Andrist added her second event win of her sophomore season, posting a winning time of 5:21.16.
Air Force concluded the afternoon with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay, as freshmen team of Ryan Mills, Audrey Laganelli, Kirsten Lee, and Catherine Dean swam to a time of 3:31.27, clearing the next team by a comfortable nine seconds.
"We need to continue this momentum next week when we head to BYU," said Murphy. "We still have more work to do as we get closer to our conference championships."
Next, Air Force will indeed travel to Provo, Utah to take on BYU and Colorado Mesa. The two-day meet begins Friday, January 19.
