Air Force Opens Spring Season With 5-2 Setback To Omaha

Air Force men's tennis opened the 2024 Spring season with a 5-2 setback to Omaha (2-1) Friday night at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb.
The Falcons were led by sophomores Phillip Deaton and Jack Brown, who notched wins at No. 1 and No. 5 singles.
Air Force gave up the doubles point as Omaha rallied to take the second and third doubles matches for the point. The duo of Deaton and AJ Moore defeated Garmendia/Van Wijk at No. 3 doubles 6-1. The Mavericks then won at No. 1 and 2 doubles.
In singles, Brown tied the match up for the Falcons with a quick 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 over Christian Tevey.
Omaha then won three consecutive singles matches, at No. 3, 6 and 4 to clinch the win.
Deaton gave the Falcons its second point with a win in three sets at No. 1, 4-6, 7-2, 7-6 over Mikhail Korkunov. The match was capped with Arjun Kersten falling in three sets to Van Wijk at No. 2 singles.
Air Force returns to action Saturday against Creighton.
