Air Force and AIC have played 57 times and the Falcons hold a 35-17-5 lead in the series that began in 1980. As Atlantic Hockey rivals, the teams have played 49 times and Air Force has a 27-17-5 lead in the league series. Last season, AIC won three of the four meetings. The teams split a series at the Academy, Jan. 12-13, with Air Force winning game one (6-2) and AIC winning game two (4-1). AIC swept Air Force in an AHA Quarterfinal series (3-1 and 3-2 ot), March 8-9. Air Force is 13-8-1 all-time at AIC, but is 0-7-1 at the Mass Mutual Center. The Falcons have just two wins over AIC since the 2017-18 season (2-14-2). Air Force's 6-2 win last season snapped a 10-game winless skid to AIC.
About the Yellow Jackets
AIC opens Atlantic Hockey play against Air Force this week. The Yellow Jackets are 0-3-1 this season with losses to No. 2 Boston College and No. 6 Maine and a loss and tie (shootout win) with No. 19 Ohio State. Last week, AIC fell to Boston College, 5-0. Junior forward Josh Barnes leads the team with three goals (three points). Junior forward John Lundy has two assists. Three different goalies have played for AIC. Junior Chase Clark has two starts and has a 3.43 GAA and a .915 saves percentage. Clark, a sixth-round draft choice by the Washington Capitals and a transfer from Sacred Heart, started against Maine and the tie with OSU. Sophomore Peyton Grainer has two starts while freshman Adam Manji has one appearance. AIC was picked fourth in the preseason coaches' poll.
