USAF ACADEMY – Air Force dropped a 3-0 Western Athletic Conference matchup to UNLV on Senior Day, Sunday afternoon at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Falcons celebrated seniors Ben Wunsch, Carter Rizzo, Joey Betts, Nick Bisagno, Noah Reznik, and Andrew Durkin prior to the match.
Air Force concluded the match with nine shots and two shots on goal. Logan Zaa and Atilla Toth were credited with the shots on target. UNLV attempted 11 shots with six shots on goal, three of which getting past freshman goalie Brody Smith.
The Falcons and Rebels were knotted at halftime with a fair split of possession time in the first 45. UNLV came out motivated in the second half, scoring a goal just 52 seconds out of the break. Kai Merrill Assisted Nico Lopez with the strike. Just over 10 minutes later, Jonah Craig serviced the ball from the corner to Louis Hiepen who finished for his second goal this season. Lopez added an insurance goal in the 90th minute via touch from Sawyer Crisostomo. Lopez has seven goals this season.
AF goalie Brody Smith made three saves in his fifth start while counterpart Hugo Lemos made two saves in his fourth win this season.
Next up, the Falcons hit the road for the final week of action in California. Air Force will take on California Baptist on Halloween (Thursday, Oct. 31) with a start time of 7 p.m. PT. On Sunday, the Falcons will take on San Diego State in the regular season finale at noon PT.
