Air Force Boxing to Host Navy in Service Academy Showdown

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Air Force boxing team will host a special edition of Friday Night Fights tomorrow (Oct. 2) night, when they welcome Navy to the Cadet Gym Boxing Room for the annual service academy showdown between the two programs. Admission is free for the 6:00 p.m. (MT) event.
FalconVision visited practice earlier this week and spoke with three of this week's contenders – senior Andre Lu, junior Elise Bell, and sophomore Samantha Vila – about facing off against the Midshipmen in the friendly confines of the Cadet Gym Boxing Room. There will also be a familiar face in Navy's corner, as former Air Force head coach Blake Baldi is in his first season in Annapolis. Baldi and first-year Air Force head coach Dr. Mark Clifford have a long history in the ring, as Clifford coached Baldi during the latter's time as a cadet, the pair served as assistant coaches on the same Air Force staff during Clifford's previous assignment at USAFA, and now the pair will face off in opposing corners.
Air Force's showdown with Navy will feature nine bout, ranging from 125 to 156 pounds. The Falcons will be in the red corner, while the Midshipmen will be cornered up in the blue.
