EUGENE, Ore. – Air Force Women's Basketball, facing Oregon in the Falcons' lone contest against a Power Four opponent this season, fell 98-36 on Tuesday evening at Matthew Knight Arena.
On a difficult evening for the Falcons, sophomore Jayda McNabb led all scoring for the game, logging 16 points on a 6-9 showing from the field. Fellow starter Alexis Cortez followed up on the Falcons' side of the stat sheet, adding seven.
The Falcons made their presence known very early in the contest, as a 5'6" McNabb won the tip over 6'8" starting center Phillipina Kyei, then was able to earn a score off her own steal against Kyei on the defensive side. In the second quarter, McNabb posted seven points, going 3-3 from the field and dropping in one of a trio of Falcon three-pointers for the game.
Turnovers proved costly early on for Air Force, as the Falcons struggled to get their go-to scorers into a rhythm. Oregon forced 10 takeaways in the opening quarter and 29 for the game, allowing a 22-9 Oregon lead at the end of the first quarter, and a 26-point deficit at halftime.
In the second, the Falcons found some offensive momentum, as junior Emily Adams found a layup over Kyei and McNabb found a pair of looks on back-to-back baskets but stalled out, allowing a 16-3 run for the Ducks.
Air Force was outscored 27-10 and 27-8 in the third and fourth quarters, as the Falcons fell to 10-2 on the season.
