BOSTON - Headlined by two victories and three improvements to the Air Force Record Book, the Falcons had a strong start to the 2024-25 season today (Dec. 7), as seven runners competed at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston.
AIR FORCE TOP 10 MARKS |
No. 4 – Javin Bostic, 200-Meter Dash (21.08) |
No. 6 – Ally Peterson, 5000-Meter Run (16:20.16) |
Although the meet at the BU Track and Tennis Center has historically been designated for members of the Falcons' distance squad, a trio of Air Force sprinters made the most of their first trip to "The Launchpad".
Senior Javin Bostic clocked a career-best time of 21.08 to win the 200-meter dash and move into fourth on the Academy's all-time standings, while classmate Taylor Rioux kicked off her season with a victorious 55.94 finish in the 400-meter dash. Bostic, who bettered the field by 0.47 seconds to lead Air Force to two of the top-three finishes in that event (junior Jettason Rose, third at 21.86), also placed second in the 60-meter dash after posting a time of 6.80 – just 0.01-seconds behind the event winner. Rioux and Rose also doubled up this afternoon, as Rioux added a third-place time of 24.84 in the 200-meter dash – a mark just shy of her own program record – and Rose placed 10th in the preliminary round of the 60-meter dash.
Shortly after concluding an all-conference and all-region season in cross country, Ally Peterson opened her senior season on the track by clocking the sixth-fastest time in program history – a 16:20.16 finish that placed within the top half (67th) of the 170-runner field. Sophomore Camryn Bodine had a stellar debut in the mile, as she clocked a time of 4:52.74 to enter the Academy's all-time standings at No. 11. Using a strong final lap, Bodine picked off her opponents to finish third in her heat and within the top half of the 48-runner field.
