
Track & Field Kicks off 2024-25 Season with Two Meets

Air Force kicks off the 2024-25 track and field season this Saturday (Dec. 7), when the team splits for a pair of competitions. Part of the squad will head to Laramie for the Wyoming Power Meet, while a small contingent will represent the Falcons in Boston at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.

MEET INFORMATION
The Wyoming Power Meet will be held inside the Hager-LeBar Indoor Track and Field Venue at War Memorial Fieldhouse on Saturday, Dec. 7. Action is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. (MT) and the lineup will include athletes from Air Force, Colorado State, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and Wyoming. A complete schedule of events is listed below. The meet is scheduled to be streamed on the Mountain West Network, while live results will be provided by Rapid Results. Air Force highlights will be posted on the team's official social media accounts (@af_tfxc).
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
11:30 a.m.: Men's Weight Throw, followed by Women's Weight Throw Men's Shot Put, Women's Shot Put; 11:30 a.m.: Women's Pole Vault, followed by Men's Pole Vault; 12:00 p.m.: Men's High Jump, followed by Women's High Jump; 12:00 p.m.: Women's Long Jump, followed by Men's Long Jump, Women's Triple Jump, Men's Triple Jump; 1:30 p.m.: 55-Meter Hurdles (prelim), followed by 55-Meter Dash, 600-Meter Run, 55-Meter Hurdles, 55-Meter Dash, 200-Meter Dash, 4x400-Meter Relay (women will compete first in all running events)

Six Falcons will also head to Massachusetts to face runners from around the country at Boston University's annual Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. The meet, which will be held at the BU Track and Tennis Center (100 Ashford St), will be streamed live on FloTrack, while Lancer Timing will provide in-meet results. Tickets are $12 and it is recommended to purchase in advance (links to video, results and tickets are available on the team's schedule page at GoAirForceFalcons.com).
ROAD WARRIORS
Due to the on-going renovation of the Cadet Field House Indoor Track, the Falcons will spend the entirety of the 2024-25 indoor season away from the Academy.
LOOK WHO'S BACK
Air Force's 2024-25 roster includes the reigning Mountain West high jump champion (Jalan Rivers), a member of the winning MW distance medley relay from 2023 (Darek Hackett). The Falcons' lineup also includes the owners of seven Academy Records – Javin Bostic (men's 60-meter dash, 6.66), Brooke Coleman (women's 60-meter dash, 7.68), Taylor Rioux (women' 200-meter dash, 24.57; women's 400-meter dash, 54.14) and Texas Tanner (men's shot put, 60'8¾"; men's hammer throw, 68'10"), as well as three of the four members from the women's record-setting 4x400-meter relay (Rioux, Kori Leverenz, Allison Fernstrom)
COLORADO CONNECTIONS
Nine Falcons hail from the state of Colorado, including two (Matthew Edwards, Alec Falk) from nearby Monument. The squad's Centennial State roster also includes athletes from Breckenridge (Dominykas Remeikis), Cascade (Cody Kelley), Denver (Ryan Hajek), Glenwood Springs (Ella Johnson), Highlands Ranch (Jayden Nats), Littleton (Aspen Webb), and Longmont (Ella Pears).
ON THE SIDELINES
Ryan Cole is in his third season as Air Force's Director of Track & Field and Cross Country and his 11th year overall as coach of the men's middle distance and distance runners, while Scott Steffan is in his third years as Head Coach of the track and field team and his 18th overseeing the Falcons' vertical jumps program. Cole and Steffan, who also manages the multi-event athletes, will be joined by assistant coaches Laura Bowerman (women's middle distance, distance), Dave Hightower (sprints, relays), Dustin Imdieke (hurdles, horizontal jumps), and Kyle Lillie (throws).
