Air Force opens the spring schedule in Arizona

THIS WEEK: Air Force opens the spring season at the Loyola Intercollegiate, Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 25-27, at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. Loyola University Maryland is the host. Live scoring will be available on www.Golfstat.com.
THE FORMAT: Teams will play 18 holes each day with a shotgun start at 7:45 am MST. Five golfers will play with the low four individual scores determining the team scores for each round. Pine Valley Golf Club is a par 72 that covers 7,015 yards.
THE FIELD: Along with Air Force, the field includes Loyola Maryland, Boise State, Bucknell, Delaware, Drake, Eastern Michigan, Gonzaga, Howard, Idaho, James Madison, Marshall, Missouri State, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Seton Hall, SIU-Edwardsville, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Utah Valley.
THE LINEUP: The Falcon lineup this week will be: 1. Alvaro Fonseca; 2-Cameron Kahle; 3-Brooks Morrell; 4-Aaron Kuznik; 5-Eli Huntington; Individual-Carson Baker
AIR FORCE AT THE LOYOLA INTERCOLLEGIATE: Air Force last played in the Loyola Intercollegiate in the spring of 2022. Air Force finished 18th, shooting a three-day score of 909. Middle Tennessee State won the tournament with an 835. Cameron Kahle led the Air Force golf team on the final day with a 73 (+1). Christopher Park was the top Falcon over the 54-hole tournament with a 220. Max Heupel shot 236 and Aaron Kuznik shot 241.
LAST TIME OUT: Air Force's last outing was at the Ka'anapali Collegiate in Maui when the Falcons The Falcons' 54-hole team score of 879 was the best of the season. Freshman Eli Huntington shot a career-best 69 to lead the Falcons in the final round. Huntington shot a 32 on the front side with six birdies. Huntington led the Falcons over 54 holes with a 217 (+1). Fonseca was second (221), followed by Kahle (223), Baker (227) and Park (228). Air Force placed 20th at 879 (+27).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Among players who have played more than nine of the15 rounds rounds, sophomore Alvaro Fonseca leads the team with a season stroke average of 74.60. Freshman Eli Huntington is second (74.80), followed by junior Cameron Kahle (75.33) and freshman Carson Baker (76.67). The 291 at the Ka'anapali Collegiate and the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational is the best of the season. Freshmen Alex Lynch and Eli Huntington have the best round of the season. Lynch shot a 69 (-3) in the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational Individual Tournament. Huntington has the best round in a team-score event with a 69 (-2) in the third round of the Ka'anapali Collegiate.
