HOUSTON- In what became a massive night for Alex Clark, the junior played a part in breaking two school records on Saturday, while plenty of other Falcons produced personal bests in the concluding evening of the 2024 Mountain West Championships.
As a team, Air Force finished seventh among the nine teams with 769.00 points.
Clark's first rewrite of history came in the 200 Butterfly where the C2C swam to a 1:59.85 to break Maria Schroeder's record set in 2015 (2:00.40). Clark would go on to win the consolation finals with the time, scoring the Falcons 20 points.
Later in the night, Clark, as well as Ryan Mills, Ella Martin, and Abby Turner managed to post a 3:21.69 in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The previous school-record, a time of 3:22.63, had stood since 2014. The Falcons sixth-place finish in the race accounted for 48 team points.
Mills also improved what was already a spot at sixth in the 100 Freestyle portion of the Air Force record book, going from 50.61 to 50.55 as the 400 Freestyle Relay lead.
Turner (50.25) and Mills (50.59) would go on to produce times well enough to score 27 team points.
Katie Andrist, already owning the third-best time in school history within the 1650 Freestyle, improved upon that standing with a 16:36.99, placing fifth in the championship round to earn her second-consecutive All-Conference honor in the event.
Andrist's work in the nearly mile-long swim was worth 25 team points.
The night also saw Maeve Linscott continue her impressive showing. The sophomore entered the top-ten of the 200 Breaststroke chapter of the Air Force record book, as her 2:15.30 becomes the fourth-best time in Falcons history.
In the same race, Mandy Fleetwood moved up from 9th to 7th in the Air Force books following a time of 2:17.52 in her consolation swim.
The 200 Backstroke spotlighted Corinne Yorkman and Ella Martin, as the two moved into the 4-5 spots of the Air Force record book. Yorkman (1:59.44) and Martin (1:59.49) finished 11-12 in the consolation finals to pick up a combined 16 team points.
In total, Air Force garnered two All-Conference qualifiers, two new school records, and 20 new top-ten times at the 2024 conference meet.
