
Fonseca led Falcons on final day in San Diego

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Sophomore Alvaro Fonseca led the Air Force golf team on the final day of the UC San Diego Invitational, Tuesday, March 26, at Torrey Pines North Course in La Jolla, Calif.
Starting on the 15th hole, Fonseca shot a 34 on the front side and played his final 14 holes in one-under par. Fonseca shot 73 (+1) in the final round and led the Falcons over the 54-hole tournament with a 227 (+11). Sophomore Brooks Morrell shot 74 in the final round, followed by Eli Huntington and Cameron Kahle with a 77 each and Carson Baker with an 81. Baker finished the tournament at 230, followed by Huntington (233), Kahle and Morrell (235).
Three Falcons competed as individuals. Junior Christopher Park shot a season-best, and tied his career-best, with a 69 in the final round. Park shot a 223 for the tournament. Senior Aaron Kuznik shot a 234 and Eric Liveringhouse shot a 241.
North Dakota State won the tournament with an 857 while Idaho was second (866) and Oklahoma Christian was third (868).
Air Force shot its best round on the final day with a 301 and finished the tournament in 17th place at 919.
Air Force returns to action at the Cowboy Classic, April 1-2, in Maricopa, Ariz.
