Air Force travels to El Macero Classic, April 12-14

THIS WEEK: Air Force will compete in El Macero Classic, Friday-Sunday, April 12-14, at El Macero Country Club in El Macero, Calif. The par-72 course will play at 7,127 yards. Live scoring will be on SmartGolf.
THE FORMAT: Teams will play 18 holes each day starting at 8:30 am PT. Five golfers will play with the low four individual scores determining the team scores for each round.
THE FIELD: Along with Air Force and the host school, UC Davis, the 18-team field includes Cal Baptist, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Denver, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Nevada, Cal State Northridge, Pacific, San Diego, Sacramento State, Seattle, St. Mary's, UC San Diego and UC Santa Barbara
THE LINEUP: The Falcon lineup will be: 1- Alvaro Fonseca; 2-Eli Huntington; 3-Christopher Park; 4-Carson Baker; 5-Cameron Kahle; Ind-Brooks Morrell
LAST TIME AT EL MACERO: Air Force last competed in the 2017-18 season, placing 10th with a 54-hole score of 930 (+66). Bryant Falconello was the top Falcon, playing 25th with a 227 (+11).
LAST TIME OUT: Air Force shot an even-par 288, the third best round of the season, on the final day of the Cowboy Classic, April 2, at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz. In the final round, a tight grouping of Falcons saw all five players shoot between 71 and 74. Freshman Carson Baker and sophomore Alvaro Fonseca each shot 71 (-1), freshman Eli Huntington and junior Christopher Park each shot 73 (+1) and junior Cameron Kahle shot 74. Fonseca was the top Falcon over the 54-hole tournament with a 219 (+3). Park, Baker and Huntington all shot 220 and Kahle shot a 223. Grand Canyon won the tournament with an 833 (-31). UNLV was second (835) and Iowa State was third (836). Air Force was 20th with an 876 (+12), one shot ahead of MW rival and the host school, Wyoming.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Among players who have played more than 15 of the 24 rounds, sophomore Alvaro Fonseca leads the team with a 74.38 stroke average. Freshman Eli Huntington is second (74.50), followed by junior Cameron Kahle (75.29), junior Christopher Park (75.53) and freshman Carson Baker (75.95). The team's 283 on the final day of the Loyola Intercollegiate is the best of the season. The three-round score of 861 at the same tournament is also the best. Cameron Kahle has the best round by a Falcon this season with a 67 in the second round at Loyola. Eli Huntington shot a career-best 68 in the third round of the same tournament.
ON THE HORIZON: The regular season concludes with the Mountain West Championships, April 26-28, in Tucson, Ariz.
