USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – A program-record seven members of the Air Force track & field and cross country program were named to the College Sports Communicators' Division I Academic All-District Track & Field and Cross Country Team, the CSC announced this afternoon (June 18).
Seniors Brian Hubbard, Philip Hundl, Gerrit Tamminga, Katie Thompson and Rebecca Wusinich joined the sophomore duo of India Jones and Max Sannes on the Academic All-District Team – a distinction that is awarded to student-athletes with at least sophomore eligibility, who maintained a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.5 or higher, and contributed to their team. It is the second-straight year that Hubbard, Hundl and Thompson have been recognized with academic all-district status.
The 2024 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Teams, as named by the College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. Select Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, where first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America selections will be announced on July 9 (women) and July 10 (men).
With the addition of these seven Academic All-District honorees, the Falcons' track and field program has seen 37 athletes combine for 46 academic honors from CSC (formerly CoSIDA) since the program began in 2003 – and has had at least one Academic All-District selection in 18 of the last 19 years.
