Patrick Hoopes Earns Spot at Olympic Trials

FORT WORTH, Texas – Air Force junior Patrick Hoopes landed a second-place finish on the pommel horse at the 2024 U.S. National Championships in Dickies Arena. Hoopes, the 2024 NCAA Champion on the pommel, earned a spot on the U.S. National Team and a chance to compete at the Olympic trials.
Hoopes, the Academy record-holder in the event, registered a 29.250 (14.950, 14.300) for his runner-up finish behind Stephen Nedoroscik's 30.000. Junior teammate Erich Upton tallied 148.650 in the all-around competition, finishing 24th in the field.
The 2024 USA Gymnastics Senior Men's National Team Presented by Xfinity and National Development Team were selected Saturday evening following competition. Athletes named to the teams are listed alphabetically below.
