6/20/2024 3:42:00 PM | Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – Rising senior Darek Hackett, rising junior Texas Tanner, and a pair of 2023 Academy graduates – Sam Gilman, Ryan Johnson – will travel to Eugene, Ore., over the next 10 days to compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for track and field. The 10-day event, which begins on Friday, June 21, will be held at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus.
The Air Force graduates will kick off the Trials on Day 1, with the opening round of the 1500-meter run (Gilman) and finals of the 10,000-meter run (Johnson). The current Falcons will compete during the second week of competition, as Hackett will compete in the opening round of the 400-meter hurdles on Day 7, and Tanner will open qualifying in the hammer throw on Day 8.
The quartet has combined for nine Air Force Records – and seven Service Academy Records – with Hackett and Tanner shattering both standards in their signature events during the recent 2024 outdoor season.
