Falcons Conclude Action at U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – A quartet of current and former members of the Air Force track and field program recently wrapped up competition at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which came a close today (June 30) in Eugene.

Rising junior Texas Tanner capped his stellar sophomore season with an 18th-place finish in the hammer throw after recording a 71.20-meter (233'7") throw on his third attempt of the semifinals, while rising senior Darek Hackett clocked a time of 52.78 to finish 30th in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles.

Two standout graduates from the Class of 2023 competed during the first week of Olympic Trials, with both Sam Gilman and Ryan Johnson collecting Top 20 finishes in their respective events. Gilman, who finished eighth in the opening round of the 1500-meter run and advanced on time (3:36.99) into the semifinals, placed 17th overall after clocking a 3:39.06 during his second race. Johnson, who was added to the 10,000-meter final just two days before the race, posted a 29:30.13 to finish 19th in the race.
