NEW ORLEANS – The Air Force track and field team saw six individuals and one team earn All-Academic distinction from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association this afternoon (July 15), as the USTFCCCA honored athletes from around the country for their work in the classroom and on the competition field during the recent indoor and outdoor season.
Recent graduate Philip Hundl (3.75, operations research) and rising senior Jason Renze (3.46, astronautical engineering) were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for the second time of their careers, while fellow 2024 graduates – Brian Hubbard (3.56, aeronautical engineering), Brandon Lindner (3.29, systems engineering), and Gerrit Tamminga (3.57, management) – rounded out the men's list of honorees with their first accolade. Rising junior India Jones (3.74, biology) represented Air Force on the women's USTFCCCA All-Academic Team with her first honor.
The women also claimed All-Academic Team honors from the USTFCCCA, as the association recognized programs that maintained a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.00 or higher, based on the USTFCCCA formula. The women, who completed the 2024 season with a combined 3.006 GPA, have been named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team for six-straight years.
The list of USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes is determined by both academic and athletic achievement during the track and field season. To qualify, the student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 of an individual event or as a member of a relay that was ranked in the top 48 on the official NCAA POP list; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships.
