
Mateaki tabbed as Mountain West Freshman of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Freshman Mai Mateaki of the Air Force women's soccer team was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Mateaki put up the first and second goals of her early career in a 3-0 shutout at Hawaii on Aug. The newcomer scored the opening goal in just the sixth minute of play off a cross from sophomore Chase Borntreger, then followed up with the brace in just the 20th minute, taking advantage of a Hawaii turnover to expand the Falcons' lead.
The award marks Mateaki's first weekly superlative awarded by the Mountain West and the Falcons' second earned in 2024.
Air Force Women's Soccer returns to Cadet Soccer Stadium to open a three-match home stand, starting with Montana on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m.
