
Air Force Concludes Lehman Open with Two Placers

LANCASTER – Falcon wrestling concluded the 12th Lehman Open hosted at Franklin & Marshall with a pair of place winning finishes in senior team captain Gage Musser and classmate Jack Ganos, Friday afternoon in Alumni Sports and Fitness Center.
Musser wrestled an impressive six matches on the event, going 5-1 on the day. Musser's only loss was to Dom Solis (Maryland) which he later avenged in the fifth-place bout. Musser had his best showing in the consolation of four round, blanking Holden Martin (Kent State), 15-0. Ganos, the five seed in the 174 bracket, won two decision bouts en route to a fourth place finish, winning against Nate Blanchette (Rutgers) and Rafael Knapp (Buffalo).
Sophomore heavyweight Antonio Ramos had a highlight performance, knocking off All-American Gavin Hoffman by pin (5:18). Hoffman, a graduate student, was ranked 17th in the nation heading into the bout. Ramos also put on a display in a service academy bout with Ben Farabaugh (Navy), besting the Midshipmen by major decision (12-2). Ramos concluded the tournament with a 3-2 record, all wins coming with bonus points.
Sophomore 125-pounder Bubba Wright had a strong showing, knocking off the fifth-seeded Ben Arnada (Cleveland State), 6-0. Wright finished the tournament with a 3-2 record, registering a pin in the effort. Classmate Gavin Caprella also had a strong showing in the 133 division with a 4-2 record on the tournament. Caprella posted two technical falls and a major decision in the effort, avenging a loss to Draegen Orine (NC State) from earlier this season. Caprella majored Orine, 13-5.
Freshman standout Carter Nogle let it fly in the 141 division with five wins, his only loss coming to ACC Champion and All-American Ryan Jack (NC State). Nogle pinned three opponents including Pat Phillips (F&M) who was nationally ranked last season. Nogle reached his match limit before competing in a placing bout.
Next up, Air Force returns to the Academy and historic Clune Arena to host a pair of Big 12 Conference duals with No. 16 South Dakota State and North Dakota State, Saturday (Dec. 18) and Sunday (Dec. 19), respectively. Action is slated for 7 p.m. MT and 1 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday's dual serves as Military Appreciation Night. Active duty and veteran military service members who would like to attend can find tickets here.
