Women's Swimming and Diving Sweeps Quad Meet

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo., - The women's swimming and diving team opened the new year with success, dominating the quad meet over Mines Northern Colorado, and UTRGV, on Saturday afternoon at the Cadet Natatorium.
Air Force vs. Mines: 239.00-54.00
Air Force vs. Northern Colorado: 191.50-108.50
Air Force vs. UTRGV: 253.00-45.00
"Today was an all-around team effort," explains head coach Colleen Murphy. "It is always hard to return to altitude after the holiday break, but the team rose to the challenge and raced hard and dove well."
The Falcons took the top spot in eight events, highlighted by two individual wins from Abby Turner in the 50 freestyle (23.91) and the 100 freestyle (52.33), and Kai-Min Tsuei taking the 100 backstroke (57.39) and the 200 backstroke (2:08.33).
Additionally, Air Force succeeded in the 200 breaststroke (Mandy Fleetwood, 2:21.44), 200 IM (Ella Rudik, 2:11.89), 200 medley relay (Tsuei, Maeve Linscott, Amber Martin, Turner, 1:45.22), and the 400 freestyle relay (Ryan Mills, Kirsten Lee, Lily Larson, Turner, 3:31.74).
Air Force completed the meet with a total 36 top five individual finishes.
Freshman diver, Chloe Perkins collected two individual wins to lead the Falcons with a score of 256.95 on the 1-meter and 291.50 points on the 3-meter.
"Abby Turner, Kai-Min Tsuei, and Chloe Perkins had great performances, winning two individual events each," said Murphy. "We were very impressed by their grit and resiliency throughout the meet, they performed extremely well."
On the women's side, the Falcons will host New Mexico and Colorado State for a Mountain West match up, with non-conference opponent Seattle University in attendance, on January 17th and 18th. The men's swimming and diving team look face Seattle University in a WAC competition. Action at the Cadet Natatorium in USAF Academy, Colo., is slated for 5 p.m. MT on the 17th and will resume at 11 a.m. on the 18th.
