Falcons Drop Spring Opener at Denver

Air Force men's tennis opened the 2025 Spring dual season with a 6-1 setback to Denver Saturday evening at the Denver Tennis Park in Denver.

Air Force dropped the doubles point as Denver won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Phillip Deaton and AJ Moore fell to Raffaello Papajcik and Ryoma Mishiro at No. 2, 6-3. Alec Fritzinger and Langdon Tingleaf fell to Theo Coats and Daniel Sancho Arbizu at No. 3, 6-3.

In singles, Denver opened with three straight wins. Samuel Rovai defeated AJ Moore 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4. Daniel Sancho Arbizu defeated Arjun Kersten 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1. Rikuto Yamaguchi defeated Alec Fritzinger 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3.

Freshman Matthew Staton picked up a point for the Falcons, defeating Ryoma Mishiro 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 5.

Denver picked up wins at No. 6, as Connor Robb-Wilcox took down Langdon Tingleaf 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) and No. 2, as Raffaello Papajcik defeated Phillip Deaton 6-4, 7-5.

Head coach Evan Urbina recapping the DU match:
"We competed against a tough Denver team tonight. They are very solid up and down the lineup, and it was a good test for us to open up our season. I believe we will show improvement tomorrow morning at home against UC Davis. We talked post-match about how to approach big points. We'll look to control the momentum and tempo of the match better. Finally, we'll focus on trusting our shots and going for them when the pressure is on. We hope to see Falcon faithful at our home-opener tomorrow morning!"
