James Winterfield Named WAC Swimmer of the Week

ARLINGTON, Texas - Team captain, James Winterfield, was honored as the University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season, as released by officials on Wednesday afternoon.

The Charleston, S.C. native marked an impressive weekend in the pool, recording three individual first place finishes and one runner-up placement against BYU and #2 DII Colorado Mesa.

For the third-best WAC time in the 100 fly, the junior completed the race in first, touching the wall at 47.36.

In the 200 IM, Winterfield clocked a time of 1:47.69, the seventh-best time in the WAC and took first place.

He also earned a top ten WAC placement and took first against BYU and Colorado Mesa for his finish in the 200 fly, at 1:48.82.

With a time of 48.65, Winterfield logged the 10^th fastest 100 backstroke in the WAC for a second-place finish.

UP NEXT
The Falcons will host the Colorado Sprint Championship, beginning at 12:00 p.m. MT on Saturday February 1^st to close out the regular season in the Cadet Natatorium.
