Scouting the Bears
Brown opened the season with a 2-0 exhibition win over the Czech Republic Select team. The Bears got goals from Owen Dyer and an unassisted empty net goal from Zackary Tonelli. Tyler Shea and Fred Halyk split time in goal with Shea picking up 16 saves and Halyk adding 12. Halyk is a transfer from Denver and won the national championship with the Pioneers in 2023-24, While a Pioneer, Halyk, a freshman at the time, stopped all 24 shots against Air Force in a 4-0 DU win Oct. 28, 2023. Last season, Brown was 14-15-3 and placed eighth in the ECAC with a 9-11-2 league record. The season ended by getting swept by top-seeded Quinnipiac in the ECAC quarterfinals.
