Falcons Sit in Fourth at Phil Hansel Invitational, Furman Resets 100 Breast Record

HOUSTON, Texas - Air Force women's swimming and diving closed the second day of the Phil Hansel Invitational with a score of 557 to shift into fourth place out of 11 teams, while Houston still leads, on Thursday November 20 at CRWC Natatorium. Naomi Furman highlighted the day with a pair of record-breaking swims in 100 breast.
For the record she already owned, Furman swam a 1:01.32 in the preliminary round of the 100 breast and went on to reset it for the third time with her finals swim of 1:01.07, to place third overall.
For second place in the 800 free relay, Lily Larson, Sadie Hartig, Brynn Bond, and Ryan Mills teamed up and swam a 7:21.20.
Larson secured a fifth place finish in the 200 free after clocking a time of 1:47.86, the second fastest time in Falcon history. Hartig (1:49.09) and Bond (1:49.30) also made their way on the top ten all-time list with their swims.
The 200 medley relay team of Kai-Min Tsuei, Furman, Amber Martin, and Mills placed sixth at 1:40.71.
On the 3-meter springboard, Chloe Perkins scored a 278.95 for tenth place. Arianna Caldwell (248.60) and Lulu Semakula (248.00) finished behind in 12th and 13th, respectively.
In the 100 fly, Martin placed highest for Air Force in 12th with a time of 55.21, while Mills followed in 14th at 55.35.
With her time of 55.19, Tsuei locked in the fastest Air Force finish in the 100 back to place 13th, while teammate Addy Forbes (55.85) was behind in 16th.
Elizabeth Sistrunk was the highest placed Falcon in the 400 IM with the sixth fastest Academy time of 4:22.86. For the 10th all-time Air Force spot, Grace Nickell swam a 4:24.72.
Invitational action will resume on Friday November 21 at 10 a.m. CT (Prelims) and 5 p.m. CT (Finals).
