Air Force Downed By New Mexico On Senior Night

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force football (3-8, 2-5 MW) dropped a 20-3 Mountain West contest to New Mexico (8-3, 5-2 MW) Saturday on Senior night at Falcon Stadium.

The Falcons struggled to get its offense going, getting held to 153 yards of total offense. The Air Force ground game was limited to just 110 yards rushing.

Air Force held the Lobos to 277 yards of offense. Running back Damon Bankston led New Mexico's offense with 62 yards rushing and one touchdown. Quarterback Jay Layne threw for 105 yards and had one rushing touchdown.

New Mexico went up 7-0 by scoring on its opening drive and added 10 more points in the second quarter to lead 17-0 at the half.

The Falcons got on the board in the fourth quarter, completing a 19-play drive with a 27-yard field goal by Reagan Tubbs. New Mexico added a field goal for the last points in the game.

Junior Kemper Hodges made his first-career start at quarterback for the Falcons. Hodges rushed for a team-high 50 yards on 20 carries. Sophomore Josh Johnson relieved Hodges in the second-half, throwing for 46 yards.

Wide receiver Jonah Dawson led the Falcons with two catches for 28 yards.

On defense, linebacker Blake Fletcher led the Falcons with 11 tackles. Fletcher went over the 100 tackle mark for the season. Linebacker Brody Bujnoch also had a career-high 10 tackles and defensive lineman Peyton Zdroik had four tackles, two for loss.

Air Force returns to action next Friday, Nov. 28, capping the season at Colorado State. The game is a 1 pm MT kick and will be televised by FS1.
