Air Force Falls at UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nevada - Air Force men's basketball dropped a 77-52 contest at UNLV (13-12, 7-7 MW) in Mountain West play Tuesday night at Thomas & Mack Center. Sophomore forward Luke Kearney led the Falcons with 17 points and six rebounds.
Air Force and UNLV battled back-and-forth early as the teams were tied at 10-10 at the 12:34 mark. From there, several UNLV runs made it a 44-22 halftime score. The Rebels had 8-0, 9-0 and 6-0 runs to pull ahead. UNLV also shot 61 percent from the field in the first half.
The Falcons played much better in the second-half, scoring 30 points, but were unable to overcome the first half deficit.
Kearney reached double figures in scoring for the third straight game. He also led the Falcons with three made three's and six rebounds. Ethan Taylor and Byron Brown followed with six points each.
Jeffrey Mills had two steals and Sam Duskin led the reserves with four points. Sophomore Josh Gatete had his first two-career rebounds for the Falcons.
Bear Cherry paced four Rebels in double-figures scoring with 15 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Wyoming. The game tips at the Arena Auditorium at 6:30 pm MT and will be broadcast on the MWN.
