Brayden Richards Opens Heptathlon at Husker Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Air Force freshman Brayden Richards kicked off action in the heptathlon at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational this afternoon (Feb. 7) in Lincoln. Competing in his first collegiate heptathlon, Richards is currently in 12th with 2810 points .
Contributing to his Day 1 total was a career-best 700-point distance of 6.51 meters (21'4¼") in the long jump and a 627-point collegiate debut of 1.80 meters (5'10¾") in the high jump. The freshman also posted an 844-point time of 7.11 in the 60-meter dash and a 639-point throw of 12.54 meters (41'1¾") in the shot put.
Richards will return to the Bob Devaney Sports Center tomorrow (Feb. 8) for the final three events of the heptathlon. He will be joined in Lincoln by classmate – and Nebraska native – Morgan Glaser, who will compete in the high jump.
