Air Force Falls To (RV/RV) New Mexico

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force men's basketball dropped a 88-53 contest to New Mexico (19-4, 11-1 MW) in Mountain West play Saturday afternoon at Clune Arena. Sophomore forward Luke Kearney led the Falcons with 12 points.
New Mexico was dominant inside, holding a 48-18 advantage in points in the paint. Guard Donovan Dent scored 25 points to lead the Lobos and forward Junior Nelly Joseph had a double-double with 14 points and 21 rebounds.
Air Force struggled on offense, shooting 32 percent from the field and 30 percent from three-point range.
Kearney knocked down three three's and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the line. Kearney also led the Falcons with two steals.
Ethan Taylor added eight points and five rebounds. Wesley Celichowski scored seven points and had two blocked shots. Kyle Marshall added team-high's of six rebounds and six assists. Yoda Oke led the reserves with a career-high six points and also had a team-high six rebounds.
Air Force trailed 34-24 at the half and got the game back to single digits early in the second half. The Falcons got the game to within five points at 36-31 two minutes into the second half. New Mexico then went on an 10-0 run to pull back ahead by double digits. The Falcons were unable to get any closer.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, Feb. 11, at UNLV. The game tips at Thomas & Mack Center at 7 pm PT and will be broadcast on the MWN.
