Air Force Women's Basketball brings postseason hoops back to Clune Arena, as the Falcons draw Utah Valley in the opening round of the 2025 Women's National Invitational Tournament, Friday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m. MT.
The game represents Air Force's second-ever postseason appearance beyond the Mountain West Championship, the first time for the Falcon women to host a tournament game in March, and first NIT game in Clune Arena since the 2006-07 Air Force men went 26-7 on the way to an NIT semifinal berth.
Air Force (18-14), squaring off against Utah Valley (18-12) in a rematch of the Falcons' Dec. 4 win over the Wolverines, seek the program's second-ever WNIT victory after the 2021-22 Falcons defeated San Francisco on the road in the opening round. The winner of Friday's contest will advance into the second round, where they will face Washington State with time, date and location to be determined.
The 18-14 Falcons finished seventh in the Mountain West standings and played to a quarterfinal berth in the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Women's Basketball Championships, winning their first postseason game since 2021-22; Utah Valley closed 2024-25 fifth in the Western Athletic Conference standings and a semifinal finish in the 2025 WAC Tournament.
In a series extending back to 2005, Air Force is 3-4 against Utah Valley (Formerly Utah Valley State), sporting wins in two of the last three games between the two institutions. The Falcons are on the hunt for their third-straight win over the Wolverines in Clune Arena, after a 76-58 win on Dec. 4 of this season.
The Falcons' opening round contest will be aired on the Mountain West Netowork with Brian Jerman and Jean Parker in the booth; 740 KVOR will carry the radio broadcast from Clune Arena with Jim Arthur on the call.
