
AF Baseball Drops Game One to San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif., - The Falcons (4-17, 2-2) fell to San Jose State (13-8, 2-2), 14-1, on Friday evening at Excite Ballpark. Air Force batters marked three hits, while the pair of pitchers tallied four strikeouts.
Christian Taylor hit 1-for-3 and was the only Falcon to record an RBI, while Cole Jenkins recorded a hit and a run scored.
Bowen Brantingham (1-2) took the start on the mound and allowed seven runs in one inning pitched. In relief, Dylan Rogers took over for five full innings. The senior logged four strikeouts and allowed three earned runs off ten hits.
The Spartans were first on the board, ahead 4-0, in the bottom of the first.
To extend their lead in the bottom of two, San Jose State plated seven runs, 11-0.
In the bottom of the third frame, SJSU managed one run for a 12-0 advantage.
The Falcon defense recorded a three up, three down bottom of four with a pair of fly outs to Chase Spencer in center field and a Rogers strikeout.
In the top of the fifth inning, Garrish singled up the middle and advanced to third on a walk and a double play but was stranded.
Following a scoreless fourth, the Spartans marked an RBI double, and an RBI ground out to score a pair, 14-0 in the bottom of five.
Air Force scored their lone run in the top of the sixth but trailed 14-1. Cole Jenkins entered the game as a substitution and reached base on a single to the third baseman. A T.J. Oster ground out advanced the runner to second. Taylor sent an RBI single to left center, enabling Jenkins to plate a run.
The Falcons will face San Jose State in game two of the Mountain West series on Saturday March 22 at 2:00 p.m. PT/3:00 p.m. MT.
