Patrick Hoopes Earns Silver Medal at Baku World Cup

BAKU, Azerbaijan -- Air Force senior pommel horse specialist Patrick Hoopes captured the silver medal on his signature event Sunday, March 9, as he wrapped up his first international assignment of 2025 as a member of the U.S. Men's Senior National Team at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Hoopes scored a 14.533 (5.9 difficulty, 8.633 execution) during Sunday's final to claim his first international medal and help Team USA to a 1-2 finish on the pommel horse. Fellow national team member Brandon Dang, who tied with Hoopes for a 1-2 ranking during Friday's qualifying round (14.300), took gold on Sunday with a 14.633, while Zeinolla Idrissov of Kazakhstan rounded out the podium with a bronze medal score of 14.400.
The Falcons will be back in action this Friday (March 14), when they travel to New York for a triangular meet with Army West Point and Simpson, while Hoopes will return to the international stage on March 20-23 for the next segment of the World Cup series in Antalya, Turkey.
