USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- A trio of Air Force gymnasts were named Regular-Season All-Americans on Tuesday, April 1, as the College Gymnastics Association announced its list of honorees. Senior Patrick Hoopes and junior Jack Matlock claimed CGA Regular-Season All-America honors on the pommel horse, while senior Erich Upton claimed the honor in the all-around.
Hoopes, a finalist for the Nissen-Emery Award, is the current national leader on the pommel horse – holding a four-score average of 14.950 to collect Regular-Season All-America honors for the second-straight year, while Matlock earned his first award after finishing the regular season ranked eighth on that event with a 14.017 average. Upton collected his second-straight Regular-Season All-America honor in the all-around after finishing the year with a 78.267 average.
The College Gymnastics Association recently created the Regular Season All-America program, recognizing the top eight gymnasts (plus ties) on each event, based on their four-score average at the conclusion of the regular season.
Hoopes, Matlock, Upton and the rest of the Falcons' ninth-ranked men's gymnastics team will host the 2025 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships this Saturday (April 5) at the Academy's Cadet West Gym. Action is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. (MT) and tickets can be purchased online at AFTickets.com.
