
Air Force travels to El Macero Classic, April 11-13

THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team travels to El Macero, Calif., for the annual El Macero Classic, Friday-Sunday, April 11-13, at the El Macero Golf Course. Live scoring will be available on SmartGolf.
THE FORMAT: Teams will play 18 holes starting at 8:30 am PT each day on the par-72, 7127-yard course.
THE FIELD: In addition to the host school, UC Davis, and Air Force, the field includes Cal Baptist, CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, CSU Sacramento, Denver, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Nevada, Pacific, San Diego, San Francisco, St. Mary's, UC San Diego, UTSA and Washington State.
THE LINEUP: The Falcon lineup this week will be: 1-Eli Huntington; 2-Brooks Morrell; 3-Cmeron Kahle; 4- Carson Baker; 5-Ted Davenport.
LAST TIME OUT: Eric Liveringhouse led the Air Force golf team in the final round of the Cowboy Classic, April 1, at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Course in Maricopa, Ariz. In the final round, Liveringhouse shot a 75 (+3), followed by Eli Huntington (76), Cameron Kahle and Carson Baker (77), Brooks Morrell (79) and freshman Jackson Scaletta, competing as an individual (83). Huntington led the Falcons over the 54-hole tournament with a 221 (+5), shooting 70-75-76. Morrell shot a 222 (+6), followed by Kahle (226), Liveringhouse and Baker (230) and Scaletta (237). Long Beach State, the highest ranked team in the tournament at No. 27, won with a team score of 827 (-37). Iowa State was second at 841 while San Diego and Wichita State tied for third at 843. Air Force was 21st at 894.
LAST TIME AT EL MACERO: Last season, Air Force shot a 302 in the final round of the El Macero Classic for a 54-hole total of 926 to place 15th. Alvaro Fonseca led the Falcons with an even-par 72 in the final round. Cameron Kahle shot a 74 on the final day while Carson Baker and Eli Huntington each shot 78. Fonseca was the top Falcon over the 54-hole tournament with a 227, tying for 36th overall. Kahle shot a 228, followed by Baker (237) and Huntington (242). Brooks Morrell, competing as an individual, shot a 78 on the final day and finished the tournament with a 230, tied for 55th overall.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Sophomore Eli Huntington leads the team with a 74.08 season scoring average with 10 rounds at par or better on the season. His 67 in the third round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational was a career best and the best round by a Falcon this season. He has two top-10 finishes this season and one top-5. Among golfers who played more than 15 rounds this season, Kahle has a 75.65, followed by Morrell (76.18), Liveringhouse (76.73) and Baker (77.23)
ON THE HORIZON: Following the El Macero Classic, Air Force will compete in the Mountain West Championships, April 25-27, at the Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell, Ore.
