
Air Force set to compete in Credit Union 1 Mountain West Golf Championships, April 25-27

THIS WEEK: The Air Force golf team will travel to Creswell, Ore., for the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships, Friday-Sunday, April 25-27, at the Emerald Valley Golf Club. Live scoring will be available at Scoreboard by Clippd.
THE FORMAT: Golfers will play 18 holes each day at the par-72, 7,210-yard course. Five golfers will play each day with the best four scorers counting toward the team total. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. PT on Day 1 with eight-minute intervals between groups of two and 10-minute intervals between groups of three. Tee times will begin at 8 a.m. PT on Days 2 and 3, with the same intervals. On the first day, the first Falcon will hit the course at 10:10 am PT. THE FIELD: Air Force will be joined in the field by Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico (No. 47), San Diego State (No. 16), San Jose State, UNLV (No. 35), Utah State and Wyoming.

ABOUT THE COURSE: Located on 170 acres nestled along the coast fork of the Willamette River, Emerald Valley Golf Course is one of the premier championship public golf courses in the Willamette Valley. It is known for its tree-lined fairways, fast-consistent greens and tournament quality course conditions year round. Emerald Valley has earned the reputation as "The Home of Tournament Golf" and is one of the best tests of golf in Oregon. The home of the Oregon Ducks, Emerald Valley also boasts one of the premier practice facilities in the Northwest. The course was ranked first of 71 golf courses in Oregon by Oregon Business in 2005 and was the golf course of the year by the Oregon Golf Association in 2004.
THE LINEUP: The Air Force lineup for this week is: 1- Cameron Kahle; 2-Eli Huntington; 3-Brooks Morrell; 4-Eric Liveringhouse; 5-Ted Davenport.
LAST YEAR AT THE MW CHAMPIONSHIPS: San Diego State won its third straight MW Golf Championship by defeating New Mexico in a playoff at the 2024 MW Championships in Creswell, Oregon. Each team shot 853 (-11). Colorado State was third (856) and San Jose State was fourth (862). For the second straight round, the Falcons shot a 298 and finished 11th at the Championships with a 900. Alvaro Fonseca was the top Falcon each day and placed 12th overall with a 54-hole score of 215 (-1). Fonseca's place and score are the best by a Falcon since Sunwoo Choi shot a 210 (-6) and placed sixth at the 2017 Championships in Tucson. Eli Huntington shot a 74 on the final day for a 227 for the tournament. Carson Baker shot a 77 in the final round for a 228 for the tournament. Cameron Kahle shot 75 in the final round and 231 for the tournament.
LAST TIME OUT: Senior Cameron Kahle led the Air Force golf team in the final round at the El Macero Classic, Sunday, April 13, El Macero, Calif. Kahle shot 74 (+2) on the final day and finished the tournament with a 222 (+6) to tie for 26th overall. Junior Brooks Morrell shot a 79 in the final round and tied for 44th overall at 226. Sophomore Eli Huntington came in at 227, followed by Ted Davenport (230) and Carson Baker (237). UC San Diego won the tournament with an 865 (+1). St. Mary's was second (866) and Pacific was third (867). Air Force finished 15th at 904.

The Falcons placed seventh in 2017 (871), its highest finish since 2014. Air Force's best team score came in 2014 with an 861 (+9). That same season, Kyle Westmoreland posted the Falcons' best individual finish, placing fourth (211, -2).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Sophomore Eli Huntington leads the team with a 74.08 season scoring average with 10 rounds at par or better on the season. His 67 in the third round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational was a career best and the best round by a Falcon this season. He has two top-10 finishes this season and one top-5. Among golfers who played more than 15 rounds this season, Kahle has a 75.65, followed by Morrell (76.18), Liveringhouse (76.73) and Baker (77.23).
