U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Honoring her academic merits as a sophomore, rising junior Carissa Holguin of the Air Force women's tennis team was named an ITA Scholar Athlete, the organization announced this week.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the most recent academic year. Holguin, a management major, closed 2024-25 sporting a 3.95 GPA.
As a sophomore, Holguin competed in eight total singles contests in 2024-25, winning three including a three-set victory on the opening day of the Bedford Cup (Sept. 12). Holguin also went back-to-back at CSU's Jon Messick Invitational, scoring a pair of straight-set wins to advance into her bracket final.
