
Air Force Women's Swim Lands Nine on Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., - Air Force women's swimming saw nine ladies named to the 2024-25 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete team, as released by officials on Thursday morning. Zoe Bresnahan, Alex Clark, Mandy Fleetwood, Lily Larson, Kirsten Lee, Maeve Linscott, Grace Nickell, Jena Nowoswiat, and Darien Tompkins closed out the season with stellar academic and athletic achievement.
To be considered a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete, the student must have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the certifying, member institution and must have a cumulative grade point average, at the member institution, of 3.50 or higher.
Zoe Bresnahan competed in ten meets for the Falcons, where she recorded four fourth place finishes in the 1000 freestyle and secured her highest placement, at third in the 1000 freestyle at Grand Canyon. The Electrical and Computer Engineering major was also named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, as well as Academic All-Mountain West.
Recent graduate, Alex Clark capped off her career with the Scholar-Athlete honor for the fourth consecutive year. The Alpharetta, Ga., native represented Air Force in ten meets and notched eight podium finishes on the year. She recorded a pair of top placements in the 200 IM and won the 200 freestyle against UNO & Liberty. Clark also earned distinctions on the CSC Academic All-District and Academic All-Mountain West teams.
Rising senior, Mandy Fleetwood competed in 11 meets on the season with 14 top five finishes overall. The Engineering Chemistry major took first in the 200 breaststroke against UNO & Liberty and Mines, UNC, & UTRGV. At the Mountain West Conference Championships, she recorded a pair of personal bests in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. Fleetwood was honored on the Academic All-Mountain West team and earns the Scholar-Athlete distinction for the third consecutive year.
Lily Larson picked up her first Scholar-Athlete award following a great freshman season. The rising C3C competed in 11 meets for the Falcons and earned 12 top five finishes, with nine being on the podium. The Colorado Springs, Colo., native placed first in the 200 freestyle at Grand Canyon and took sixth in the 200 free for a personal best at the Phil Hansel Invitational. She marked the fastest Air Force times of the season in the 100 and 200 freestyles. Larson was also named to the Academic All-Mountain West team for the first time in her career.
Kirsten Lee was named a Scholar-Athlete for the second time in her stint at Air Force. The Fort Wayne, Ind., native saw action in 11 meets to total seven top five finishes, three of which were on the podium. Lee recorded a personal best in the 500 freestyle at the Mountain West Championships and was honored as an Academic All-Mountain West selection.
2025-26 team captain, Maeve Linscott receives this Scholar-Athlete honor for the third consecutive season. She competed in 11 meets for the Falcons and claimed 14 top five finishes. In the 200 breaststroke, the Biology major placed first in the 200 breaststroke at Grand Canyon and against CSU, Seattle U, & New Mexico, while taking four second place finishes in the 200 breaststroke. At the Mountain West Championships, Linscott recorded four personal bests and secured a ninth place finish in the 200 breast for Air Force's fastest time of the season. Additionally, she earned the Academic All-Mountain West distinction.
Grace Nickell earned her first career Scholar-Athlete honor after competing in 12 meets for Air Force during her freshman campaign. The Knoxville, Tenn., native collected five top five placements across the season, her highest finish being second in the 200 butterfly for a personal best at the Denver First Chance Invite. Nickell was also named to the Academic All-Mountain West team for the first time in her career.
Rising C3C, Jena Nowoswiat etched her name into the Scholar-Athlete books following her freshman season with the Falcons. She competed in 11 meets and totaled 10 top five placements, with eight on the podium. The Mathematics major placed first in the 200 butterfly against CSU, Seattle U, & New Mexico and against BYU & Mesa and finished in sixth at the Phil Hansel Invitational with a new personal best time in the 200 fly. Nowoswiat added Academic All-Mountain West to her list of accomplishments, as well.
Air Force graduate, Darien Tompkins capped off her career with the Falcons after competing in nine meets this past season. The Canasota, Ny., native tallied a trio of top five placements, with the highest as fourth in the 100 butterfly at the Denver First Chance Invite. Tompkins earned the Scholar-Athlete distinction for the fourth and final time in her stint at Air Force, along with Academic All-Mountain West honors.
