All-Time Versus the Buffaloes:
Air Force has played eight total games against Colorado and sits at an all-time record of 1-7, extending back to the first matchup between the two programs in 1996, a home 1-0 win for the Falcons. The most recent meeting between the programs was a 3-0 CU win on August 16, 2018.
Last Time Out:
Following a 30-minute lightning delay, the Falcons hosted Denver in their home and season opener on Thursday August 14 but fell short 2-1.
Across fulltime, the Falcons totaled 19 shots with five on goal, accompanied by a pair of saves from freshman goalkeeper Trishelle Lopez.
Air Force produced a strong first half defensively and marked two shots on goal from Addie Doyle and AJ Heap but were unable to capitalize.
In the second half, DU put up two goals before senior forward Caeli Sherman was awarded a penalty kick off a late handball. Sherman sent the set piece firing top left over the Pioneer goalkeeper's head to log the Falcons' first goal of the season and provide momentum, in the 82'. Despite tightening the gap, Air Force only managed one more shot with time left on the clock.
Collegiate Debuts:
Air Force saw eight newcomers take the pitch for the first time in their collegiate careers against DU. Cape Coral, Fla., native, Trishelle Lopez, earned her first start in goal and played fulltime with a pair of clutch saves in the first half of the match. Melissa Araujo, AJ Heap, and Ellie McCarron recorded shots in their first appearance for Air Force. Zahra Friess, Nai'a Garana, Sammi Kinoshita, and Nalei Shannon also saw playing time.
