Falcons Battle but Come Up Short to Army
8/21/2025 7:49:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Annika Jost recorded a match-high three shots on goal and earned her first career assist, while Musgrove and Chase Borntreger each marked a pair of shots on goal.
In an aggressive first half, the Falcons maintained strong control of the midfield and saw multiple opportunities at the goal, but could not get past Karalyn Dail, Army's goalkeeper. Five shots, three from Jost and a pair from Chase Borntreger were not enough in the first 20 minutes. At the 22' mark, the Black Knights crossed from the right side and jammed the ball into the back of the net for the first goal of the game.
The Black Knights opened the second half with a shot high above Lopez's reach to score at 56'. The Falcons saw key moments but came up empty on an indirect kick that was blocked in goal and a Borntreger shot from outside the box that hit off the right post. Despite being down, AF kept the power alive long enough to score. From behind the box, Jost pitched the ball to Musgrove who was able to finish with a header to the back left of the net at the 88' mark.
Air Force will stay in the northeast for a Sunday match at Rutgers, on August 24 at 2 p.m. ET/ 12 p.m. MT.
