Fencing Opens With Four Gold Medalists At Air Force ROC

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force fencing opened the 2025 season by hosting the 2025 Air Force Regional Open Circuit this Sat.-Sun., Sept. 13-14 at the East Gym and Fencing Facilities in the Cadet Gymnasium. The Falcons had nine medalists, including four earning gold in their respective divisions.
Junior Christina Watrall, seniors Jack Griffith and Omar Emara and freshman Sean Oh earned gold medals for the Falcons.
Watrall and Griffith led the way by going a undefeated in pool play and direct elimination brackets to earn gold. Watrall went 9-0 in Div. IA women's epee out of a field of 36 and Griffith went 10-0 in the Div. IA men's foil out of a field of 28.
Emara took top honors in the Div. IA men's epee out of a field of 52. Oh won the junior men's foil out of a field of 28.
Sophomore Kira Lonadier, freshman Kaitlyn Choi and Richard Li and senior Mira Vestel also earned medals for the Falcons. Lonadier earned bronze in the Div. IA women's epee, reaching the semifinals. Choi was the silver medalist in both the women's Div. IA and junior foil. Vestel earned silver in the Div. IA women's saber out of a field 23. Li earned bronze in Div. IA men's foil.
The Falcons return to action next weekend, traveling to the San Diego ROC in San Diego, Calif.
