U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force senior Brooks Morrell placed 32nd at the fifth annual Jackson T. Stephens Cup, Tuesday, Sept. 16, at the Shoreacres Golf Club in Lake Bluff, Ill.
Morrell is the fifth Falcon to compete in the event as Colter Baca played in 2021, Isaac Layne played in 2022, Aaron Kuznik competed in 2023 and Cameron Kahle competed in 2024.
The Stephens Cup brings together the nation's top collegiate golfers. This year's field featured six NCAA Division 1 men's and women's teams, as well as leading players from the service academies and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) competing as individuals.
Morrell's consistent play put him at 217 (+7) over 54 holes. After an opening round 72, he shot a 74 in round two, completing the 36-hole day. In the final round, he shot a one-over-par 71, making four birdies on the day. SMU's William Sides was the top individual at 203 (-7).
Morrell returns to action this weekend as Air Force hosts the 56th Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Saturday-Monday, Sept. 20-22, at the Academy's Eisenhower Golf Course. This is a two-part event with the team competition being played on the Blue Course and the individual event on the Silver Course. Golfers will play 18 holes each day. The 23-team, 54-hole tournament, begins at 8:30 am MT on Saturday, Sept. 20.
