BOULDER, Colo. – Headlined by the second-fastest 60-meter dash in program history, the Air Force track team had a stellar outing at the Colorado Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24. As a team, the Falcons accounted for six Air Force Top 10 marks, 10 more times that rank within the Academy's Top 25, and four first-place finishes.
Sophomore Ryan McFadden's sprint down the straightaway at the Ford Indoor Practice Facility headlined the day's updates to the Air Force Record Book, as she posted the second-fastest 60-meter time in Air Force history during a 7.69 performance. After clocking a 7.79 to finish second out of 16 runners in the preliminary round, McFadden knocked a tenth off that time in the final to claim the runner-up spot and vault up to No. 2 on the program's all-time standings. With her 7.69 run – a time just 0.01 off the program standard, she also matched the Sophomore Class Record that Apryl Ford had held since 1981.
Backed by at least one improvement to the Air Force Record Book, the women accounted for 1-2 finishes in three different events on Saturday. Freshman Amaya Stepp won the 13-runner 400-meter race with a career-best time of 56.54 – the eighth-fastest time in program history, while sophomore Ella Pears placed second in 57.08 to move up to No. 14 on the program's all-time standings. Junior Liliane Aittama captured her second-straight victory in the 800-meter run behind a time of 2:09.33, while classmate Cam Bodine was second behind a time of 2:09.87 – a mark that, when converted to 2:09.04 for the 5337-foot elevation of Boulder, improved her own No. 4 standing in the program's record book. Fellow juniors Anna Harden and Ella Johnson completed the Falcons' trio of 1-2 finishes, as Harden won the 3000-meter run in 9:46.80 and Johnson was right on her heels for a 9:46.88 finish. Like Bodine, Johnson improved her own placement on the Academy's Top 10, with an altitude-adjusted time of 9:30.61a (No. 10).
Sophomore Morgan Glaser improved her own No. 9 standing in the 60-meter hurdles (8.90) during the preliminary round of that event, as she and junior Allison Fernstrom (9.10, No. 18) both advanced to the finals. Freshman Eleanor Borcchard, who also impacted the program's all-time standings during the hurdle prelim (9.23, No. 24), added an Air Force Top 20 time in the 200-meter dash following her first sub-26 outing (25.87, No. 20) that was fourth in the full 24-runner event. Junior Scarlet Fetterolf rounded out the list of women to update the record book, as she debuted at No. 16 in the mile behind an altitude-converted time of 4:53.67 (5:01.01 raw, fourth out of 32).
On the men's side, sophomore Wyatt Cernyar vaulted up to No. 9 on the program's all-time standings in the 800-meter run, as he posted a career-best, altitude-adjusted time of 1:50.31 during a runner-up finish in the 25-man race (1:51.02 raw). Overall, four Falcons captured top-10 finishes in that event, as junior Jonah Hochstetler placed fourth (1:51.28 raw / 1:51.56a, No. 19 all-time), senior Jevonte Eaves finished eighth (1:53.80) and freshman Ryan Daly took 10th (1:54.02).
Senior Jettason Rose equaled his career-best time of 6.81 (No. 15 all-time) to finish second in the final of the 60-meter dash, while sophomore Asher Jenkins matched his personal-best of 6.85 (No. 22) in the prelim – and nearly matched that time again to finish third in the final (6.86). Freshman Zachary DeWalt debuted in the Air Force Record Book for 200 meters, after clocking the 15th-fastest time in program history (21.51) to finish fourth out of 34 sprinters, while sophomore Matthew Edwards entered the all-time standings in the 3000-meter run (8:04.37a, No. 23) after earning the top collegiate finish – and second overall in the 42-runner event – with a raw time of 8:18.18.
Like the women, the men picked up a 1-2 finish in the 400-meter dash, with freshman Jordan Elie-Stuart (48.98) and junior Ryan Hajek (49.01) accounting for the Falcons' dominance in that event. Jenkins earned a second third-place finish in the 200-meter dash (21.50), while junior Dominykas Remeikis earned a fifth-place finish in the mile (4:09.24) and senior Brenton Maddox joined Edwards in the top five of the 3000-meter run (8:22.68, fifth) and accounted for the second-best finish by a collegiate runner.
After spending the first two meets of 2026 in Boulder, the Falcons will head out-of-state for a competition next weekend (Jan. 30-31). Air Force will travel to Manhattan, Kan., for its first appearance at the DeLoss-Dodds Invitational.
