ROTTERDAM, Netherlands -- Former Air Force Gymnastics standout and current men's assistant coach 2Lt Patrick Hoopes claimed a top-five finish on the pommel horse at the 54th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, which concluded over the weekend in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Hoopes registered a score of 14.933 on the pommel horse during the individual event finals at Rotterdam Ahoy on Saturday, Oct. 24 – a tally that equaled the fourth-highest score of the day on that event. One of only two finalists with a difficulty of 6.0 or higher (6.1), Hoopes captured a top-five world finish for the second-straight year.
Earlier in the week, Hoopes scored a 14.666 to finish fifth out of 149 gymnasts during the qualification round on Oct. 17-18 and added a 14.833 during the team finals on Oct. 20 – the latter score bettering the rest of 24 gymnasts competing on the pommel horse in the team finals by four-tenths of a point.
During the 2026 season, Hoopes – a two-time NCAA champion for the Falcons – successfully defended his U.S. national title on his signature event and captured a gold medal at the Pan American Championships
