COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –Air Force gymnast Maggie Slife continues to set herself above the field among the Mountain West Conference competitors, as the junior was once again named Mountain West Gymnast of the week on Tuesday afternoon. In addition to the highest weekly honor awarded by the league, Slife additionally claimed Specialist of the Week recognition on uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise.
Slife was the tip of the spear for an Air Force squad who compiled an historic Feb. 6 in Cadet West Gym. Slife earned at least a share of first place in three of four events on an evening in which the Falcons, hosting both No. 27 Utah State and Alaska Anchorage at home, finished the night with an all-time high 195.800 win.
Slife finished off Friday night's meet with a trio of 9.900 or higher finishes. A stellar evening for the reigning Mountain West Gymnast of the Year was highlighted by a 9.975 finish on bars – Scoring not only the highest-ever finish by an Air Force gymnast but also resetting the Mountain West record on bars and earning the league's first-ever 9.975 on any event.
Slife's running tally of MW weekly accolades in 2026 grows to 18. Tuesday's haul of awards represents her fifth-straight Gymnast and Bars/Floor Specialist of the Week honors, earning at least co-honors in each week of competition for all three categories. To date, Slife has earned 15 of the last 16 MW Gymnast of the Week awards – A streak which extends back to the final awards week of the 2024 season.
Slife currently ranks third in the country on bars, 27th nationally on floor and is No. 12 as an all-arounder.
Looking Ahead:
Air Force Women's Gymnastics (9-3, 2-2 MW) takes on Georgia, Stanford and California on Saturday, Feb. 14 in Fort Worth, Texas. The Falcons are next back in Cadet West Gym on March 6, hosting San Jose State and Denver.
