Air Force Women's Swim Shines at Denver First Chance Invite

DENVER, Colo., - The Falcons complete the Denver First Chance Invite with eight individual podium finishes on the second day of competition at El Pomar Natatorium on Saturday morning. The completion of the invitational signals the beginning of championship season for Air Force.
"I am so proud of our three seniors who ended thier careers at this meet," expressed head coach Colleen Murphy. "They have been great leaders and ended their careers on a positive note. They will be missed."
Senior Lily Bachl earned a first place finish in the 100 free after touching the wall at 51.47. The trio of Sadie Hartig (51.79), Brynn Bond (51.93), and Kaitlyn Surratt (52.12) closed out the top five.
After finishing at 2:20.85, Reagan Kampschror won the 200 breast while Jessie McNeil (2:25.29) and Kat Putchinski (2:25.62) followed in third and fourth, respectively.
Distance swimmer Surratt claimed the top spot after recording a 500 free time of 5:03.98 and was joined on the podium by Zoe Bresnahan in second. Kyie Landry (5:13.24) and Yvy La (5:15.32) rounded out the top five.
For silver in the 200 free relay, Ryan Mills, Eliza Black, Lily Larson, and Bachl combined for a time of 1:33.47.
Freshmen Landry (2:03.84) and Natalie Doig (2:04.11) finished back-to-back for third and fourth in the 200 back.
Jena Nowoswiat (57.01), Maeve Linscott (57.21), and Abigail Hardy (57.22) went for third, fourth, and fifth in the 100 fly.
The 200 IM saw Bond earn bronze at 2:06.28 with Hartig behind in fifth (2:06.40) to close the meet.
Air Force looks ahead to the Mountain West Championship Meet at CRWC Natatorium in Houston, Tx., from Feb. 19-21.
